Over the past year, the European research network collaboration, GÉANT, has conducted a joint pan-European tender for Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) offerings: a collective invitation to providers, to submit a bid to supply their IaaS solutions to research and education institutions across Europe.
UNINETT coordinates the Norwegian national procurement process for digital assessment ICT systems. 20 universities and colleges have now concluded: they choose UNIwise Aps, Inspera and Enovate as their vendors
The GÉANT Project is a European success story. For over 15 years, through the joined forces of national research and education networking (NREN) organisations, the project has been a vital element of Europe’s e-infrastructure strategy.
GÉANT and the European NRENs aim to establish framework agreements with suppliers of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) solutions on behalf of their member institutions. The agreements will be the outcomes of a European tender launched 20th April 2016.
GÉANT has signed a partnership agreement with Microsoft to act as network connectivity provider for Microsoft’s Azure ExpressRoutes service. This will help accelerate open research and education in Europe.
